My Dr. Martens Collection

Hello everyone, its been a while.

I'm sorry to have kept you all waiting so long for another blog post but since returning to Newcastle I've been a little preoccupied with my coursework. I had my first deadline today which of course wasn't at all stressful...

Today I wanted to talk to you all about one of my favourite brands, Dr. Martens. I have loved this brand for years and upon arriving back at uni they told us we would actually be working on a live project with them so you can imagine my excitement at the news!

My Dad has always loved Dr. Martens as he was a punk back in the day and even when I was a kid he would always try convince me how amazing the boots were. When I was younger I objected and told him the boots were horrible and clunky, oh how I have grown up since then and seen the error of my childish ways.

When I was about 16 I went through a bit of a personality shift, or as I see it an awakening. I sort of let go of everything that was tying me down and just grew up. I started listening to better music, or rather real music, changed my clothes, cut off my long hair became myself. A huge part of this transformation came with the receipt of my first pair of Dr. Martens boots.

They were the exact brand I needed to associate myself with; bold, fierce and adaptable. Dr. Martens are designed for individuals and free spirits, as I was growing into myself they were just what I needed. A massive inspiration for my transformation was my music and the artists I was discovering. I moved on from my unoriginal, mindless pop into wonderful, liberating rock from all eras. I found All Time Low and We Are The In Crowd as well as the Smiths and R.E.M. The rock genre in all its forms has always supported the brand meaning Dr. Martens were even more perfect for me.

My first ever Dr. Martens were a perfectly beautiful pair of 1460 W boots in black canvas with roses covering them. They suited me wonderfully, still the traditional shape and style but a little more feminine looking for me as I even though my style was shifting towards something more punky, I was still a girl.

I have probably worn those boots more times than any other pair of shoes I own, they are one of my most prized possessions and even though they now carry a few battle scars I still love them. Since then my collection has grown somewhat, I now own three pairs of Docs; two pairs of boots and an adorable pair of shoes.

It is my collection of gorgeous and inspiring shoes that I want to share with you today. So here is my most treasured Dr. Martens collection, enjoy!

I'd love to see them, there are so many beautiful colours and styles of DMs I love looking at them and fantasising about maybe one day owning them.
