Picnic with Emma in Jesmond Dene

Hello my darlings, I hope you're all looking after yourselves.

A few weeks ago my best friend in the entire world, Emma, came up to see me in Newcastle. I have known Emma since I was a baby and our family's have practically raised each others children. I don't even consider her a friend anymore she is just my sister. She has an older sister, Amy, who I love just as much and again consider to be my sibling, the same as they class my brother, Will, as theirs.

Emma's currently studying Adventure Media at Cumbria University in Carlisle but caught the train across to stay with me from Saturday to Monday. As she arrived late Saturday night and I wasn't feeling well we had a cosy night in but on Sunday we decided to take a walk in Jesmond Dene with a picnic.

Jesmond Dene is sort of like a big park near Newcastle centre, Jesmond's a really nice residential area near the centre of town and the Dene is surprisingly big and lovely for a moments quiet reflection. I'm from the countryside and one of the things I miss the most about home is the abundance of trees and green spaces. I love living in the city but sometimes I get bored of all the concrete so I am always up for a walk.

I decided to take my camera along because well, its me I take it everywhere! and here are my snaps, enjoy!

These trees drowning in shoes are in Armstrong park in Heaton and I have absolutely no idea why or how those shoes are there! Its quite beautiful and yet a little spooky.

My outfit of the day:

The best picnic ever; baguettes, apples, juice and of course a chocolate orange!

It was such a lovely day for a walk with a shining sun and blue skies, ah it was heaven! I hadn't seen Emma since New Years so we were well overdue a catch up and it was really refreshing having a weekend together.

I hope you guys enjoyed these pictures, if any of you are also studying in Newcastle and want some greenery get yourselves to Jesmond because it really is gorgeous.

Enjoy your weeks everyone and I shall see you ever so soon.

Spotlight | The White T-Shirt Company

Hello everyone!

I hope you're all well and happy at this glorious time of year. Spring is upon us and I for one could not be more grateful as its finally starting to warm up in Newcastle.

Today I wanted to talk to you lovely people about a local company here in Newcastle Upon Tyne that I've recently become aware of and admire greatly.

The White T-Shirt Company is a brand dedicated to ethical fashion production. After studying fashion production in textiles and geography at school and being deputy head of the FairTrade committee in sixth form, ethical fashion is something I care greatly about.

The White T-Shirt Company was launched in 2004 working in partnership with Novotex to produce the perfect white t-shirt as an essential staple in anyone's wardrobe. The fabric used by The White T-Shirt Company is GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified cotton ensuring it is grown to meet high ecological and social standards.

Not only are they a socially conscious brand, but their products are also divine. As we all know, white t-shirts of any variation; round neck, tank top, long sleeved, short sleeved etc are a necessity in anyone's wardrobe. I can not stress the importance of investing in a high quality staple such as The White T-Shirt Company's products. They are life-long essentials and being classical pieces they will never go out of style.

I think we all need to be more conscious of our global fashion footprint. Not only do we need to be more aware of where our cotton comes from, but also the conditions under which it is grown, the wages its producers are paid, the conditions under which they work as well as what happens to our clothes once we no longer need them. As technology advances, our economy grows and our quality of life increases, we can not leave others in third world countries behind as we move forward.

I know that I am not a saint in this respect, of course I still shop in stores where I know the workers are not treated particularly well but on a student budget its not always easy to be good. Hopefully one day I will be able to shop without feeling guilty about how my clothes have been manufactured and grown. Thanks to brands like The White T-Shirt Company, this day may not be too far away.

I hope you guys like this post and will maybe take something away from this, consider how and where your clothes are produced and how fair it is on the people that make them. Are there any other companies you guys know of who are similar to The White T-Shirt Company for being socially responsible? Comment down below and then we can all help support brands that support those who need it most. Should you wish to have a look on their website you can check it out here.

I hope you all enjoyed this post and hopefully I will be able to post again soon. I have two deadlines in the next few weeks so even though I have loads of things I want to share with you guys you might have to wait a little while to see them.

I hope you all have fantastic weeks planned and I shall see you soon.

OOTD | Today

Hello everyone, I hope you're all well and happy.

Today I finally have another outfit post for you. This one features a new purchase of mine... I may have had a slight splurge on the Cheap Monday site...but in my defence I only looked at the sale section and I only bought two things!

One of which was this dress:

I loved the twist in the fabric of this dress, amazingly it was only £11 in the sale! Although its quite simple I really liked it, especially for the length of it. I thought it looked really sweet with a white T-shirt underneath it which gave it a little bit of a 90s look. I decided to pair it with my Dr. Martens Jocelyn shoes and my vintage crescent moon necklace, then covered it with my French Connection cashmere coat. A little monochrome I know but its still freezing in Newcastle so no wonder I'm drawn to cooler colours!

I'd like to thank my lovely flat mate Sam for taking these pictures, he has a blog too and I took some pictures for his so go have a nosey at his blog too:

The song that inspired today's title is Today by Smashing Pumpkins, it came on the 8tracks playlist I was listening to this morning and it sort of revived me. Seen as it was released in 1993 and this was a little bit of 90s style look I thought it suited the look rather well.

Thank you for reading my blog and I hope you enjoyed this post. There'll be more on here soon as Sam and I are going to be taking more pictures for each other in the future.

As always I hope you guys have a wonderful weekend and I shall see you all soon.
